Kennecott Adventure

Last week at the last minute... we decided to take a trip up to the Kennecott Copper Mine! I have lived here almost my entire life and we have never been there! We loaded up the kids and off we went. It was further than I thought... but easy to get to and so fun when we got there! We checked out the pit first and then headed off to watch the movie. It was really interesting and we learned a lot!

The entrance

The largest open pit copper mine in the world. One of 2 man made structures that can be seen from space! It is so deep that the Empire State building could stand inside of it! Amazing!

The Richest Hole on Earth!

So big! Those are huge trucks that look like tiny bugs! The kids got on the viewer and they could see guys going into the porta potty! They thought that was the coolest thing ever... goofy kids!

There is a sign that say's no climbing on the green post... who could stop these two?

Making faces at me in the car window! Then they wanted me to turn on my windshield wipers... and lo and behold it sprayed right over the top of my car! They were all laughing so hard... they had to go out in back of my car and see if it would spray them!.

Sure enough it soaked them! That is how far off kilter the sprayer is... they all got wet! I'm sure that car driving in thought we were nuts... oh well..we ARE but we sure have fun! !
